The Challenge
9 plant networks. Sensitive data. One-way transfer. Zero margin for error.
The project required building a secure, reliable system to transfer sensitive equipment data from 9 different plant networks in the Oil and Gas and Petrochemical industries to the GE Asset Performance Management system.
Three things made this genuinely hard. Every plant had a different configuration. Data needed to flow in one direction only without compromising security. And site testing had to happen with very limited test data available.
What I Did
Built a 1-year technology roadmap and executed it through mid-project changes
- Developed a 1-year technology roadmap to address the complex requirements of secure data transfer across all plants
- Produced detailed documentation that improved stakeholder communication and system understanding throughout the project
- Revised the roadmap mid-project when strategic changes came in, ensuring no delays to delivery
- Installed and configured the system to generate Excel reports in a format GE APM could use
- Placed the software in the DMZ network and set up secure connections to each plant's AMS system through a proxy server
- Conducted complex site testing and verification despite having limited data to work with
The Results
9 out of 9 plants deployed. Zero security breaches. Zero rollbacks.
